Zell Miller and I are worked on this project for Fusebox on April 15, 2017.. We partnered with The Design Institute for Health - UT Dell Medical School, Eastside Memorial High School, Southwest Key, Mid America Arts Alliance. Using the lenses of community health, arts, and culture we see the cafe as an opportunity to address multiple health challenges facing the Govalle-Johnston Terrace neighborhood including access to healthy food, cooking classes, fitness, and cultural expression while simultaneously seeking to preserve the history and culture of the neighborhood.
In His Shoes: The Father/Son Project Coming Sept 2017
In His Shoes- The Father/Son Project is a documentary theatre performance examining the roles Father's and Son's play in our lives. After a successful workshop in August 2016, we are taking this project to the next level in September 2017. Co-creators Jason Phelps, Zell Miller, and Jeff Johnson are all fathers, sons, educators, and performers. We have interviewed a handful of fathers and sons for this project and are eager to broaden the scope of stories and experience to reflect the changing cultural landscape of Austin and beyond.
